Good News!
CATS Rescue and Adoption Services is officially open at 7196 Route 9. It has been a long time coming as a lot of renovations had to be made to meet the Town of Plattsburgh code but that has been accomplished.
As we begin having the public in the building, we will need to do it by appointment. We do not have the volunteers necessary to allow visitors in for the entire day. It is a very exciting time and we look forward to inviting individuals in to see the number of wonderful cats waiting for a forever home. To make an appointment, we ask that you call our organization number at 518-569-5157.
We are proud to tell you that in 2025 we adopted 903 cats and kittens into forever homes! We have done this in no small part by gathering together additional groups that operated independently (Keeseville Feral Cat Management, Willsboro Community-Feral Cat Community, and Bangor Animal Shelter) as well as individuals Kysa Roberts and Kathleen Fisher to form a coalition covering most aspects of cat rescue from trapping to sheltering. We could only accomplish this because of the dedicated volunteers who foster, keep the shelter and Cats’ Meow Thrift Shoppe going and do the weekly adoption events.
There is more to do
While all of this is good, our next huge challenge is to continue making the shelter compliant with the Companion Animal Protection Act (CAPA) that took effect December 15, 2025. There are still many things required to accomplish this and we will need your support now more than ever. The above groups and individuals have joined us as a means of continuing the community service we provide in the North Country and stay within the confines of CAPA.
This is a team effort and we hope to be able to continue serving our communities with your help. Please consider volunteering or donating. Donations can be made by check, credit, or debit card, Venmo or PayPal.

Meat Stick Fundraiser
For several years now, we have had a fundraiser with the students of CVTec and Country Meats where they sell meat sticks and donate the proceeds to Cats Rescue. If you don’t know a student, you can also order direct from Country Meats through this link, and we will receive a portion of the proceeds.

Thank you for your support, every little bit helps. Right now we are beginning construction in our shelter to bring our building up to code.
If meat sticks aren’t your thing, but you would still like to help, we have a donate button at the top of the website that will take you to our PayPal.

National Adoption Week at PetSmart
If you have been thinking of adding a new member to your family, now’s the time! We have many kittens coming in that need to find homes.
For the week of 7/15/2024, every cat adopted will count twice toward the fundraising support we can earn through PetSmart charities. We are saving to to be able to replace our leaking roof, and every little bit helps. -

Making progress at the new building

We have been busy getting our new shelter ready! We’re not there yet, but we have cleared away most of the trees that were hiding the building from the road and threatening the building’s foundation. Progress is being made on the inside too: cleaning, painting, and preparing for handicap accessibility modifications.
If you would like to help, you can reach out to animalrescue.welfareservices@gmail.com .
